Karen earned her law degree from the
University of North Carolina School of Law in 1992, where she was a
member of the National Moot Court Team. Before law school, Karen
received her B.A. with honors from Hollins College in 1989, where
she was a Hollins Scholar and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Karen joined TBSR after law school and
is a partner in the firm. She has an AV rating in
Martindale
Hubbell,
the highest rating available, and is listed in
Best Lawyers in
America.
Karen has tried to verdict civil cases
in state and federal courts and before arbitrators She concentrates
her practice on business torts, catastrophic personal injury and
wrongful death.
Karen is committed to improving the
legal profession. In North Carolina, she has served on the Board of
Governors of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, and has
chaired its Young Lawyers' Division, Professional Negligence
Section, and annual convention. She is also an active member of the
North Carolina Bar Association, serving on its Litigation Council,
is currently Chair of the Medico-Legal Liaison Committee, and has
for many years chaired the North Carolina Law Week Poster Art
Contest for 4th, 5th and 6th graders across our State.
On the national level, Karen is an
active member of the American Association for Justice, serves on its
Legal Affairs Committee, and has chaired its Student Trial Advocacy
Committee which promotes the skills training of law students. Karen
is a frequent speaker and writer for continuing legal education
seminars in the area of litigation, arbitration and professional
negligence. She also speaks to physician groups across the State
about legal topics. |
