Karen Rabenau
Karen Rabenau concentrates her practice on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, medical negligence and business litigation. Karen joined Twiggs, Beskind, Strickland & Rabenau in 1992 after graduation from UNC Law School. She has an AV rating in Martindale–Hubbell — the highest rating available. Karen is a North Carolina Super Lawyer, and is recognized in Best Lawyers in America in two distinct areas: personal injury litigation and medical malpractice law. For the past eighteen years, she has focused her practice in these areas.
Karen has successfully tried civil cases to verdict in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels. She serves on the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, and the Litigation Council of the North Carolina Bar Association, for which she is the Ethics Co–Chair. She recently finished serving for two years as Chair of the Medico–Legal Liaison Committee for the North Carolina Bar Association. Karen also speaks to physician groups across North Carolina about legal topics.
While at UNC Law School, Karen was one of two students in her second year class to be chosen as a member of the Holderness Moot Court National Team. During her undergraduate studies at Hollins College, she was a Hollins Scholar and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
When not working, Karen spends time with her family and is an avid runner. She serves on the board of the International Montessori School, and just finished serving as president of her local garden club.
